Our
mission at Fire of Life is to "Win, Build, & Send". Our vision is
to WIN young people who will enter into a personal relationship with
Jesus Christ. After all, relationship with Jesus and with those around
us is what it is all about. However, our work does not stop there. We
want to BUILD them into disciples of Christ. And eventually, we want to
SEND them out as witnesses, where ever their life takes them as it
unfolds before them. All we do is centered around our mission of "Win,
Build, & Send".
Our priorities for "Win, Build, & Send" are Discipleship, Leadership, Weekly Gatherings, and Outreach/Evangelism.
Rather than spreading ourselves thin we have decided to put our energy,
resources, and time toward making these four things successful. We use
the model of a house to illustrate our four priorities. Our foundation
is and always will be Jesus Christ. We do not ask Him to bless our
ministry. We ask Him to allow us to serve his ministry. Upon this
foundation we erect the walls of our house (the four priorities). These
are Discipleship, Leadership, Weekly Gatherings, and
Outreach/Evangelism. We will rarely do something that is not one of our
four "walls" or that does not directly support a "wall". The roof is
the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our covering, our protection, the
ceiling of our ministry.
Discipleship
The personal development of teens is of the utmost importance to us. We
believe they can be discipled and learn to disciple themselves in to
becoming solid, life-long Christians. What we want to focus on includes:
1. relationship with Father God and with those around us
2. development of student-to-student & leader-to-student relationships
3. realizing our identity in Christ so we can understand what our reason for being is and what our purpose in life is
4. raising up this generation and helping them to recognize who they are and to assume the calling that God has on their lives.
Weekly Gatherings
The focus of the weekly gatherings (Wednesday nights @ 7pm) is to
provide safe and creative environments for teenagers to grow in
their relationship with God and with other Christian teens. Many of our
student ministry teams are in action during this time.
Leadership, Outreach/Evangelism
Jesus never meant for His disciples to only receive ministry. His plan was for them to DO
ministry, and in doing so, they would know Him better. In the same way,
the goal for Fire of Life is not only to impart ministry into the lives
of teenagers, but also to have them
do ministry. Serving in the ministry, no matter the specific task,
helps to challenge young disciples to keep free from "stagnant"
Christianity and draw closer to the blueprint God has set out for their
lives. We believe that teenagers are not the "church of tomorrow", but
the church of today! God is using them in an awesome way. We have
student ministry teams who help with ministering in the weekly
gatherings as well as outreaches.
